We may be able to refund the amount paid if a guest has to cancel a booking due to an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summary
This Extenuating Circumstances Policy explains how cancellations are handled when unforeseen circumstances beyond your control arise after booking and make it impracticable or illegal to complete your booking. This Policy applies to bookings for both accommodation and Experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where this Policy permits cancellation, it controls and takes precedence over the booking cancellation policy. Guests who are affected by an event covered by this Policy may cancel their reservation and receive, depending on the circumstances, a cash refund, travel credit and\/or other consideration. Hosts who are affected by an event covered by this Policy may cancel without adverse consequences, but, depending on the circumstances, their calendars may be blocked for the dates of the cancelled booking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Events Covered
This Policy uses the term \u2018Event\u2019 to refer to the following situations that occur after booking, are unforeseen at the time of booking and legally prevent or prohibit completion of the booking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Changes in government travel requirements. Unexpected changes in visa or passport requirements imposed by a government agency that prevent travel to the destination. This does not include lost or expired travel documents or other personal circumstances related to the guest’s authorisation to travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Declared emergencies and epidemics. Government-declared local or national emergencies, epidemics, pandemics and public health emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Government travel restrictions. Travel restrictions imposed by a government agency that prevent or prohibit travel to, stay in, or return from the listed location. This does not include non-binding travel warnings and other similar governmental guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Military actions and other hostilities. Acts of war, hostilities, invasions, civil war, terrorism, explosions, bombings, rebellions, riots, insurrections, civil disorders and civil disturbances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Natural disasters. Natural disasters, acts of God, large-scale outages of essential utilities, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and other severe and abnormal weather events. No usual weather or natural conditions are included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is not covered
Everything else. This Policy only allows cancellations for the Events described above. Everything else is excluded. Examples of situations where this Policy does not permit cancellations are: unexpected illness, disease or injury; governmental obligations such as jury duty, court appearances or military duties; travel warnings or other governmental directives (which do not amount to a travel ban or prohibition); cancellation or rescheduling of an event for which the booking was made; and transportation disruptions unrelated to a Covered Event, such as road closures, as well as flight, train, bus and ferry cancellations. If you cancel a booking in these cases, the amount refunded will be determined by the cancellation policy applicable to the booking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What to do next
If we notify you or publish information confirming that this Policy applies to your booking, please follow the cancellation instructions we provide. Where we have notified you or posted information about the application of this Policy, you must have the option to cancel in accordance with this Policy by accessing your Travel page and cancelling the affected booking. If you believe this Policy applies to your reservation, but we have not notified you or published information about it, please contact us to cancel your reservation. In all cases, you should be prepared to provide documentation showing how the event has affected you or your reserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other points to note This Policy applies to all bookings with an entry date on or after the effective date. This Policy does not apply to Luxe bookings, which are subject to a separate Luxe Guest Refund Policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How long does it take to receive a refund?
Refunds are sent immediately upon cancellation and usually appear within 3-5 days, but sometimes take up to 15 days to be reflected in the original payment method. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if I am not sure what the cancellation policy is for my booking or if the policy is not listed here?
